A Lifetime of Light
Steve Vannort
Opening Reception: Friday, March 21st, 5-7pm with Artist’s Talk at 6:00pm
“Steve Vannort’s open-weave webs of light-filled abstractions are haunting and evocative. Architectural in implication, autobiographical in intonations, they are neither “mirrors” nor “windows” to external worlds but rather metaphorically concrete “portraits” - passages to places and sense known and recaptured…”. Joan Simon
Light’s Movement Through Space
Whitcomb’s is pleased to announce a new show, the paintings of Steve Vannort. Steve is an accomplished artist with an exhibition history that includes national and international galleries, solo and group shows. In his work in acrylics, oils, and watercolors - and over a career spanning decades - Steve has played with light's movement through space; captured through the use of improvisation and an eye to creating an approachable entry point for each piece. He cites the luminosity found in the works of Rothko and Turner as inspiration for his paintings. Steve brings a unique background and manifold interests to his artwork. Steve Vannort’s website
